Welcome to our High School Ministries!
Our passion in our High School Department is to instruct and infuse the High School students with a passion to know God, to bring Him glory, and to proclaim His name in their lives. We believe that the students are ready and eager for Biblical instruction in their lives, and that the Word of God is the only tool that will permanently transform the hearts and mind of a high school student.
On Sundays we meet in the Lower Aud from 10:45-11:45 for a time of worship and instruction in the Word of God. We see this time as a time to lay down a foundation of theology in the heart and minds of the students, so that they can build upon it for the rest of their lives. We go through all the basic areas of theology, learning about how God has revealed Himself to us and how it applies to our everyday lives.
On Wednesday nights we also meet in the Lower Aud, from 7:00-8:45. Many students come by early to hang out, talk, eat, or just do homework. We spend time hanging out, talking about how their week is going, what God is doing in their lives, and how we can be keeping them in prayer. We also spend time with a fun game, followed by a time or worship through singing led by our staff. We end with a time in the Word of God. This usually is going through a book of the Bible, seeing where the rubber meets the road.
Our Small Groups are a key part of who we are. The groups are divided by high school class and by gender. The meeting times vary due to the increasingly busy schedules of the students, but the groups will meet at least twice a month. This is a time for encouragement, exhortation, accountability, and personal intstruction. If you are not involved in a group and would like to be, please talk to Geoff Smith or e-mail him at gsmith@sgccandcs.org
We also have camps, retreats, and events throughout the year. These are great times to come and get to know people in the group, have fun, and make memories. We go ice skating, beach trips, family dinners, Christmas parties, and much more. In the summer, we head up to Hume Lake and in the winter we do our own camp at Pine Summit in Big Bear. Each summer we also have CORE Week, which is in June. We meet each night, have a time of insane recreation, fun and heartfealt worship with youth band, and a time in the Word.
If you would like to get involved, we eagerly anticipate your involvement! If you have any questions, please contact Geoff Smith by email at gsmith@sgccandcs.org or by phone at (626) 287-0486 ext. 216. We look forward to beign able to minister to you and your family!
