Student Ministries
SGCC Student Ministries exists to glorify God by presenting students mature in Christ and enlisting them in His Great Commission.
Junior High | High School | College
Welcome to San Gabriel Union Church Student Ministries!
Through regular activities and special outreach events, and through the lives of our students on the campus, we proclaim Christ and invite others to receive Him as their Savior and Lord. Once a student knows Christ, they can begin living the exciting life for which God created them.
Him we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom,
that we may present everyone mature in Christ. - Colossians 1:28
Growing in Christ
Empowered by the Holy Spirit and established in the Word of God, we use Sunday School, Weekly meetings, Gatherings for Prayer & Worship, Camps, and Small Group discipleship as ways to encourage spiritual growth.
Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age. - Matthew 28:19-20
Glorifying Christ
Our desire is that students would become life-long followers of Jesus Christ, aggressively loving Him with all their heart, soul, mind and strength, and their neighbor as themselves. And we pray that as each student sees themselves as Christ’s ambassadors, and as they are trained and equipped for ministry, they would eagerly join Christ in His Great Commission of making disciples of all the nations.
Staple Events
* Sunday School: We live in a world that desires to destroy young people’s faith in God and the truth of His Word. And although we, as believers in Jesus Christ, are not of the world, Jesus has sent us into the world. Sunday School helps prepare students to be the salt and light that Jesus desires for them to be, while they are teenagers and for the rest of their lives. We instruct the students in basic theology, showing them it is indeed practical for their lives. Sunday School meets from 10:45 AM-11:45 AM.
* Rush Hour: In the midst of a busy week, students can bring their friends, have a great time of fun, worship through music, and learn how God and His Word can instruct us in the way we should live and feed our hungry hearts to grow a passion for God. Rush Hour meets Wednesdays from 7:00-8:45.
* Pray & Praise: This is an awesome time as we all gather in the Youth Center for worship and prayer led by our youth staff. Pray & Praise meets the first Sunday of every other month during the Sunday School Hour and the 1st Wednesday night every other month during the Rush Hour program.
* Small groups: This is a time for students to get together with other high school students and a staff person who knows them, loves them, and is helping to guide them in their walk with Jesus. The groups are divided by gender and high school class. We talk about what is going on in our lives, what God is teaching, and encourage each other to live our lives for the glory of God!
