Spiritual Life

We desire all children at SGCS to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. To this end we teach all our classes and programs with an emphasis on God and His Word. In addition, all students attend weekly chapel services which are geared to their grade level.

Hot Lunch Program

For the convenience of parents, we offer a breakfast and hot lunch program. This program is offered through an outside catering company, Fresh Fire Catering whose goal is to serve your students nutritous and healthy school lunches.

Wardrobe

School is the work of a child. The goal of the wardrobe policy at San Gabriel Christian School is to encourage our students’ dress to reflect a disciplined and focused attitude towards learning. Our school wardrobe is designed to provide flexibility in style, color and cost with a focus on classic styles.

Sports

Boys: Flag-Football, Basketball, Soccer, Cross-Country, and Baseball

Girls: Volleyball, Basketball, Soccer, Cross-Country, and Softball

Day Care

Promise Land Day Care is available on all regular school days from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Our friendly and helpful Student Care Team will see that your child receives a healthy snack (for purchase), completes homework, and enjoys a time of recreation. All students not picked up by 3:00 p.m. will automatically be checked in to Day Care.

Day Care is also offered on minimum days from 12:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., and on Staff Development Days and selected school holidays from 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Exciting enrichment classes are periodically offered (for a separate fee). Informational flyers with registration forms will be sent home with students.

Day Care children are to be picked up in the school office. The adult picking up the child must be listed on the school's Emergency Authorization Card, and must be prepared to show a picture ID. The adult must then sign out the child on our Daily Check Out sheet. Our first responsibility is the safety of your child.

Day Care Fees:

Fees are due and payable immediately upon picking up your student. For convenience and simplicity, we request a prepaid deposit be maintained to cover your anticipated monthly Day Care usage. We will faithfully track your usage and remaining balance daily, and notify you when it is time to replenish your account.

Fees are charged in half-hour increments ($2.50 per half hour per child) beginning at 3:00 p.m., while the student is in our care. For example, if you pick up your child at 4:00 p.m., 1 hour will be deducted from your balance. However, if you pick up your child after 4:01 p.m., 1 1/2 hours will be deducted from your balance.

Children picked up after 6:00 p.m. will be charged a late pick up fee of $1 per minute, (per family), and must be paid at the time the child is picked up.

Snack Cards: Snack Cards may be purchased for $30.00, representing 40 snacks. The Snack Cards will be kept on file with the grade level Day Care Staff Leader until completely used. Unused portions of Snack Cards at the end of the school year can be carried over to the next school year.

Fee Verification Statements: Statements for tax purposes will be made available upon request.

Volunteers in Partnership (VIP)

Parent involvement in the education of your son or daughter is a critical component to SGCS. We welcome your participation and have a formalized program designed to make your volunteering meaningful and helpful to your student and his/her teacher. We call this program VIP, which stands for Volunteers In Partnership.

Highlights of our VIP program include:

* A volunteer coordinator to staff the volunteers and make jobs fun and easy

* A variety of volunteer opportunities which are accessible to all parents-even if they work full time

* Programs that are designed to help new families assimilate quickly and easily into the SGCS family

Objectives of the VIP program include:

* Sharing the gospel with SGCS families and encouraging a personal relationship with Jesus Christ

* Supporting SGCS, as appropriate, in the education of our students

* Supporting SGCS parents in their acclimation to the school community

* Encouraging relationships by creating opportunities for the school community to connect

* Connecting parents with volunteer opportunities so that the minimum VIP Service Hours may be met

For additional information please contact Kristen Halverson, Assistant Development Director, at (626) 287-0486 or email her at khalverson@sgccandcs.org.

What are VIP Service Hours?

All school families are asked to support the school by donating a minimum of 10 hours of service during the school year. One volunteer hour = one VIP hour; each $10 donation in goods = one VIP hour. There are many opportunities to fulfill the VIP service hours for parents working both inside and outside of the home. The VIP Office will highlight volunteer opportunities throughout the school year.

How is the program administered?

During final registration each family provides a check for $200 payable to San Gabriel Christian School and dated for the following June. This check is held in a secure file in the school office and will not be deposited. Each family is given a VIP Service Hours coupon book to be used to record service hours throughout the year. Coupons must be approved and signed by the appropriate teacher, event chairperson, room parent or administrator. Once a family has completed their 10 hours of service, the completed coupon book is turned into the school office and the check is returned. If a family does not complete their 10 hours of service by the specified date at the end of June, the $200 check is deposited into the school’s general fund.
